It was the end of Easter Break and before going back to London, I had to visit the Centre Commercial Kids. I discovered it in Milk Magazine and I really wanted to go back to my previous neighbourhood and walk alongside the Canal St Martin. I also knew that I would find what I was looking for: meaningful products with true brand values.
Opened in early September 2013 and created by the co-founder of Veja, Centre Commercial Kids is located around the corner from the adult shop in Paris 10, close to the Canal St Martin. It sells French, European and American brands for babies and children from 0 to 14 years old. It features childrenswear, accessories and toys that combine local craftmanship and ecological materials.
Some exclusive French brands have been carefully hand-picked: Saint James famous for its genuine knitted woollen Breton seaman’s sweater, Dis une couleur: trendy, organic products full of colours, Coq en Pate a organic children’s accessories and fashion publishing company, la Botte Gardiane and its camarguaise boots, Meduse and its made in France wellington boots and indeed Veja ethical trainers.
Each month, they organise DIY workshops. When I visited the shop, it was quite busy with the Kids coding club and a group of kids from 8 to 12 years old were creating 3D characters.
Previously, they also organised great creative workshops such as colouring “Gribouille” T-shirts, Brioche baking, Mask making, Christmas decoration creation…
